A man is accused of murder after allegedly stabbing a man from Huntington Station and slashing the victim's wife

Huntington Station, Suffolk County 

On Wednesday, March 22, Candelario Cordova, who is 53 and resides in Huntington Station, was charged with second-degree murder and additional offenses in Suffolk County Court for the death of Roque Cisneros, who was 58 years old.

On February 16th, the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office received reports of a disturbance outside a residence close to Oakwood Road in Huntington Station, which triggered an emergency response.

When the officers reached the location, they saw Roque Cisneros, aged 58, along with his wife, having numerous stab wounds outside their residence.

Before the stabbings occurred, Cisneros' spouse observed him engaging in a physical altercation with Cordova, whom they identified as both a colleague and friend of Cisneros.

According to her statement to the police, she witnessed Cisneros sitting in the front seat of an SUV through her window, while Cordova attempted to extract him from the car.

As per the testimony of the woman, Cordova drove off with Cisneros in the SUV while she followed in her own car. When they reached Oakwood Road, Cordova stopped the SUV and allegedly took out a long knife from the trunk.

Prosecutors claim that Cordova proceeded to stab Cisneros multiple times in the neck and body after opening the passenger side door. When the victim's wife attempted to intervene, Cordova reportedly inflicted cuts and thrusts upon her.

Cordova's attack came to an end after a group of drivers passing by intervened and restrained him until officers from the Suffolk County Police Department arrived. According to reports, law enforcement officials located the weapon used in the assaults at the same location.

According to prosecutors, Cisneros passed away immediately after receiving several stabbings, while his spouse was transported to Huntington Hospital to be treated for her wounds.

According to a statement by Raymond Tierney, the district attorney of Suffolk County, the defendant supposedly killed the victim in front of his wife, who witnessed the incident in terror. When she attempted to intervene, the defendant reportedly attacked her with the knife. The statement affirms that Suffolk County will not permit such violent behavior.

The charges against Cordova were read out on Wednesday during the court arraignment: 

Second-degree murder is considered a felony, as is attempted second-degree murder. The charge of first-degree assault is also considered a felony, while second-degree assault holds the same classification.

Should Cordova be found guilty, he could be sentenced to spend anywhere between 25 years to life behind bars. He has been instructed to remain in jail until his next court hearing, which is slated to take place on Wednesday, April 26.

Cisneros' spouse and four children are left behind as he passed away prematurely, causing great sadness to those who knew him.

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up by his niece, Karina Trejos Cisneros, to assist the family with burial costs and medical bills.

She continued by stating that his spouse and offspring require assistance as they are currently experiencing difficult times in paying for funeral costs, not to mention dealing with the passing of their loved one.

In a Facebook post, Frances Gorecki, who lived next to Cisneros, described him as a kind-hearted man who was always happy and ready to assist anyone in need. According to her, he was generous enough to offer his clothing to others.

Gorecki expressed his deep sorrow over the tragic loss of the family, who had experienced it in a dreadful manner, despite their kindness and empathy.
