Suspect Arrested Over Teen's Fatal Shooting in Daylight on Long Island Accompanying McDonald's

It has been several months since a young person was fatally shot in broad daylight at a McDonald's restaurant on Long Island, and a suspect has been arrested.

Gerson Hernandez, aged twenty, of Hempstead, was apprehended on Monday, March 13th, in relation to the demise of nineteen-year-old Hector Manuel Valencia Gomez, as reported by Nassau County Police.

The remains of Gomez were discovered with gunshot wounds at a McDonald's on Peninsula Boulevard in Hempstead on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 14.

At approximately 4 p.m., dispatch received calls stating multiple shots were heard fired at the restaurant. Law enforcement arrived and discovered Gomez with multiple gunshot wounds. Unfortunately, he was already deceased when they arrived.

No one else was hurt in the shooting.  

Hernandez was the only person charged with a count of second-degree gang assault. His arraignment was to take place on March 14 at First District Court in Hempstead.
