Secret Service agents protecting Biden’s granddaughter open fire when 3 people try to break into SUV
In Washington, D.C., Secret Service agents guarding President Joe Biden's granddaughter opened fire when three individuals attempted to break into an unmarked vehicle, as reported by a law enforcement official.
The incident unfolded late Sunday night in the Georgetown neighborhood. While accompanying Naomi Biden, the agents observed the suspects breaking a window of the parked, unoccupied SUV. Despite one agent discharging their firearm, no injuries occurred.
The three suspects fled in a red car, prompting the Secret Service to issue a regional bulletin to Metropolitan Police. Washington has seen a significant uptick in carjackings and thefts this year, with over 750 carjackings and 6,000 stolen vehicle reports.
The surge in violent crime is causing concern, highlighted by recent incidents such as the carjacking involving U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar and an assault on U.S. Rep. Angie Craig.
