A resident of Long Island has been indicted for harassment and criminal trespass after reportedly trailing a 17-year-old young lady to her home earlier this year and entering her garage.

Ismail Sarimehmet from Deer Park, a 47-year-old inhabitant of Suffolk County, was apprehended on Thursday, March 9, at his place of residence.

On Sunday, Jan. 29, the Suffolk County Police revealed the girl was on her way back to her house in Dix Hills when at around 4:15 p.m. she noticed a driver of a black pickup truck was trailing her.

The man drove to her residence, went up the drive and into her connected garage, and initiated a conversation, according to authorities.

Upon hearing that her parents had arrived, the minor made haste to enter the house. Upon realizing this, the man swiftly headed back to his truck and drove away according to the police.

The woman was unharmed.

Following an investigation, Sarimehmet was apprehended at his residence.

Investigators assume that other teenagers or females may have been targeted and are requesting that anybody with added data reach out to the Crime Section at the Second Precinct on 631-854-8228 between 8 a.m. and midnight.

Sarimehmet was detained overnight and is due to appear in court on Friday, 10th March.
