Police reported that a man from Farmingville was accused of driving while intoxicated on drugs and causing a fatal accident in Centereach.

A man from Long Island has been accused of driving under the influence of drugs and causing a car accident that resulted in the death of a 21-year-old individual.

On March 19, at approximately 5 p.m., an occurrence transpired on Middle Country Road close to Wood Road in Centereach.

According to Suffolk County Police, a 39-year-old man named Christopher Guzman from Farmingville collided with a 66-year-old woman from Coram who was driving a 2011 Toyota Camry while he was driving his 2022 Chevrolet pickup truck westbound on Middle Country Road.

Guzman drove towards the west and collided with a 2012 Ford Escape also heading west, which was being driven by a 55-year-old man from Lake Grove, at a close distance.

According to the authorities, the operator of the Escape was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital to receive medical care for severe injuries. The victim's nephew, Timothy Carpenter, who was 21 years old, was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was declared deceased.

Guzman and the driver of the Camry were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital to receive medical attention for injuries that were not life-threatening.

At a later date, Guzman is set to appear for arraignment after being charged for driving under the influence of drugs.
