North Babylon Man Arrested for Stealing Cash from Women in West Babylon Parking Lot

Suffolk County Police arrested a North Babylon man last week after he allegedly stole money out of a women's car in a parking lot in West Babylon, on Wednesday around 3pm. 

As a woman approached her vehicle in a parking lot located at 531 Montauk Highway in West Babylon, on Wednesday afternoon, a man approached her and informed her that one of her tires was flat, and offered to fix it. The man asked the women to look for a jack in her trunk. As she was searching for the jack, the man allegedly stole money from her purse inside the vehicle. Officers believe the man deflated the tire prior to the victim returning. 

Following an investigation First Precinct Officers arrested Peter Cordero, 55, of North Babylon, and charged him with Petit Larceny and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle. 

Cordero was held at the First Precinct and was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on May 22.
