Two Pedestrians Hit in Amityville Friday night leaving one Dead one Injured
Suffolk County First Squad Detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash involving a Suffolk County Transit bus, that left one pedestrian dead and sent another to the hospital Friday night in Amityville.
Pablo Serrano, and Claralee Correa were traveling from the northwest corner to the northeast corner of the intersection of Broadway and Oak Street on foot in a posted crosswalk when they were struck by an eastbound Mercury Mountaineer that was turning left onto Broadway from Oak Street at approximately 8:10 p.m. The two pedestrians were then struck by an 2010 Orion Bus, which was turning left onto Broadway behind the Mercury.
Pablo Serrano 61 of Woodside Queens, was pronounced dead at the scene, and Claralee Correa, 45, of Brooklyn, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Neither driver were injured.
The Mercury was impounded for a safety check, and the bus was examined by the Motor Carrier Unit, and released to the Transit Authority.
