Police Investigating Possible Murder Suicide in Islip

Homicide Squad detectives are investing the deaths of two people in Islip Thursday morning in what appears to be a murder suicide. Third precinct officers responded to 4 Parsons Landing Lane in Islip Thursday morning around 6:30 am after getting calls of neighbors possibly hearing gunshots coming from the location.

Upon arrival, officers found the male, 73-year-old William Clifford outside the home in the front yard with a self inflicted gunshot. Clifford was pronounced dead at the scene. Upon entering the house, officers found a second gunshot victim, 78-year-old Eileen Clifford. Mrs. Clifford was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following an investigation, detectives believe Mr. Clifford shot his wife before killing himself.

The investigation is continuing.
