Months Sitting In The Shelter! This 6 year old good boy was surrendered to the town of Oyster Bay Animal Shelter by his owner, who was moving & leaving him behind. He has been there for months without any interest!

Caine is 80 pounds of pure LOVE & MUSH!! He is smart, playful & would make a great family dog. He walks like a gentleman on the leash, knows so many commands, and loves everyone he meets! Although he’s not a fan of the felines, after a proper introduction, Caine would do great living with another medium to large sized dog.

Located- Syosset, NY

NY/NJ/CT Please reach out to adoptroadtohome@gmail.com for more info if you’re interested in this sweet boy!🐾❤️🐾❤️

Please share his story as well. Thank you!!

Adopt her and show her she can be loved

Don't let the size and breed fool you! Moon is the gentlest giant you will ever meet.

Her name should really be "sugar or maple" as she is pure goodness. Sadly her life until now has not been a good one. Used as a breeder bitch for a greedy breeder. At 6 years young Moon is, for the first time, learning what a home and love is like. She came to us shaking and terrified yet trusting and forgiving. Stairs have proven her biggest challenge so a home without them would be best.

This stunning girl wants nothing more then to find a family to continue giving her the TLC and patience her fosters have. She will reward you in return with nothing short of loyalty and love. She deserves nothing less then a compassionate home. Adopt a true rescue dog and show her what she has been missing ..

Moon is up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations, heartworm negative but NOT spayed (See MUST READ...).

MUST READ: Due to the conditions of Moon being a breeder dog this animal has not yet been altered. At adoption the adopter will be responsible for submitting a $100 refundable payment in addition to the adoption fee. The adopter must alter othe animal by the date noted on the payment receipt and provide proof of that to the rescue within 7 business days after the appt. Once proof is provided, the payment will be refunded. NOTE RESCUE WILL COVER ALTER COST AT PLACE WE USE IN NJ

Apply now for gorgeous Moon and give this beautiful baby a chance to live her best life!( we will also cover spay at our vet )

Moon is available for adoption through Pixies and Paws Animal Rescue

Adopt Enchanted
Located in NYC- 3 year old, house-trained female.

Would make an AMAZING family dog!!!! Loves children, has been around many, loves other dogs! She is an absolute sweetheart and deserves the most amazing home.

Hi Friend! My listed name is Enchanted but my foster mommy calls me Milly. I was rescued from the streets of southern Georgia and could not be more grateful! New York has been nothing be great to me. I love people, other dogs, and even kids! Although, not to sound super needy, I would be delighted as the only pup in the home but having for four legged fur siblings is okay with me. I am a low maintenance doggo! My foster momma leaves me out of the crate when she leaves the home, I totally just sleep on the couch until she gets home. When she does, I'll follow her until she gives me attention... then I'll wag my tail and get so happy she is home!! My foster momma introduced me to her little cousins, I absolutely loved them. They were fun to kiss on the face and get all the pets from! I also have been doing FANTASTIC with going potty outside! Although I was a stray, I'm house trained😉. Foster mom is leaning more towards that because there is another foster pup in the home who is in the middle of house training so even though he has accidents, I never do! I get told I'm a good girl a lot, I guess that means I'm pretty awesome. I sure do love to sleep all day but if you wanna play, let's play! I don't chew things around the house, bother my foster parents to get up on the bed at night (but if invited... I'd love to join!), and I don't even bark when left alone because *cough cough* finally! Some time to nap! If you'd like to meet me and open your home to me... please apply to meet me today! Maybe I came to New York for YOU! Hope to see you soon❤️

She is available through Waldo’s Rescue. This organizations goal is to strip kill shelters, animals that are mistreated, all to give them a second chance! The more people can adopt or even foster, the more room there is to rescue more dogs in hazardous conditions! We need your help to make this happen. Please see www.Waldosrescue.org for more information or follow on Instagram @waldosrescue

Mazi has been placed with a New Hope rescue

He arrived trembling and whale eyed; Mazi is slowly warming up at the shelter! Let’s hope it is not too late!

Mazi is one handsome pup! Even with his one, mediocre picture that the shelter supplied, it is easy to see. What is hard to imagine is this handsome pup trembling and afraid. What has life dealt him so far? Luckily there is hope and Mazi has become very social and even playful with familiar people. He appears to want to play with other dogs from his notes and is eager to learn and be active. Treats are a big motivator which can help with his training as he is eager to please and earn more treats! As a young pup, he still has plenty to learn and with his past being a mystery, there is no way to know what he already knows!. So please help this boyo find a happy landing where he can learn and play and live a happy life! HURRY AND MESSAGE OUR PAGE or EMAIL US at NYCDogsLivesMatter@gmail.com for assistance and give Mazi the happy life he deserves.
.
Here's what my friends at ACC say:

About me: Due to his arrival as a stray, Mazi's history is a mystery. He is social and friendly with known handlers, though has been observed to become highly fearful and reactive in the presence of strangers.

Potential challenges: Future caretakers should be experienced and comfortable managing fearfulness, stranger danger, and the potential for escalation. Mazi has been observed to lunge and hard bark at strangers he finds intimidating. Mazi becomes highly social with his favorite people but would benefit from positive reinforcement training to manage his arousal and mouthiness when overstimulated.

My ideal home is: An experienced home with no children. Mazi should be placed with an ACC rescue partner that can ensure proper behavioral follow-up.

Mazi ID #166942
Male black dog
At the Manhattan Animal Care Center
About 2 years old.
Weight: 67 lbs
Surrendered as an agency on 3/18/2023.

Due to the detailed behavior issues, this animal is only available for foster/adoption through one of ACC's New Hope Partners. If you are interested in adopting or fostering, please fill out the pre-screener form. This animal is not directly available for adoption through ACC and is only available by completing the pre-screener form. Adoption inquiries sent directly to ACC will not receive a response.

Mazi is on emergency placement for behavioral reasons. Though social with familiar handlers, Mazi displays high stress and reactivity (hard barking, lunging) in the presence of strangers. Medically, he presents stage 1/4 dental disease.

Summary:: 3/20/23: Mazi sniffs a dog at the gate with a tense body.

3/18/23 When greeting another dog through the fence, Mazi is loose bodied and whining, he begins to play bow exuberantly.

Summary (3):: 3/27/23: Mazi is at the front of the kennel with a loose wiggly body and is easily leashed. He is taken for a street walk where he relieves himself and explores the area. He is returned to the shelter and taken to the yard. Mazi is social with handler and jumps on them in a social matter seeking attention. When a staff member approaches the fence Mazi begins to growl and lunge at them. Mazi paces, lunges and vocalizes until the staff member walks away. Mazi then refocuses his attention towards handler and seeks attention. He is brought back inside and placed in his kennel without issue.

3/26/23: Mazi is at the front of the kennel with a soft body when approached and is easily leashed. He is taken to the yard and placed on a drag leash. Mazi is social with handler and seeks attention, allowing all pets. Handler tosses balls for Mazi to fetch and he runs towards the balls but does not bring them back. Mazi begins to zoomie around the yard and then vocalizes while running. He then begins to jump on handler mouthing them and tugging on their clothes while vocalizing. Handler tosses him treats then Mazi stops running and sits patiently. He is returned to his kennel without issue.

3/23/23: Mazi comes to the front of the kennel when approached with a soft body. He is easily leashed and taken out for a street walk. When he sees a familiar handler, he approaches with a loose, wiggly body and jumps up exuberantly. At one point during the walk, he sees a person gesturing with their hands and he jumps backwards. He enters an area where there is a lot of activity and appears fearful, darting away from these things with a tense body and tucked tail. Handler encourages him down a path that avoids these things and he walks near the handler. He is brought back inside and returned to the kennel without issue.

3/19/23: Mazi is sleeping at the back of the kennel when approached. Handler calls him over and he readily approaches with a neutral body. He is easily leashed and taken to the yard. Mazi walks around the pen with a neutral body. Handler sits on the bench and calls Mazi over. He perks up and approaches handler with a loose wiggly body. Mazi leans against handler and allows brief petting. He allows handler to place him on a drag leash and then he relieves himself. A second handler tosses a ball and Mazi runs around the yard excitedly. He runs to the toy and briefly interacts with it before walking away. When a staff member enters the yard with a dog, Mazi runs up to the fence barking and growling with a tense body and hackles raised. Handler places the slip lead on him and removes the drag leash. He is walked back to the building and placed in his kennel without issue.

Summary (4):: 3/18/23 Mazi is in the behavior room in a crate this morning. Mazi is sitting at the front of the crate, tense and fearful, he readily eats treats that handlers offer. As Mazi has a slip lead around his neck, handlers open crate door, Mazi remains highly fearful and does not step out despite being coaxed with treats, toys. Handler begins to toss chicken which Mazi begins to eat and approach very slowly for though he still does not step out. A second leash is added (slip lead that is already on him was not secure) and as handler does his he walks right out of crate. Mazi is taken to the play yard to relieve himself, he remains fearful and tense throughout. When Mazi sees another handler on the other side of the fence he begins to hard bark and growl. Mazi is led back to his kennel without further issue, due to his high level of fear, leashes are removed using hook.

Date of initial:: 3/19/2023

Summary:: Tense

ENERGY LEVEL:: We have no history on Mazi so we cannot be certain of his behavior in a home environment. However, he is a young, dog who will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct his energy and enthusiasm

BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:: New Hope Only

Recommendations:: No children (under 13),Place with a New Hope partner

Recommendations comments:: No children: Due to fearful behavior and reactivity seen at the care center, we recommend an adult only home.

The behavior department recommends Mazi be placed with a New Hope placement partner who is able to provide an experienced, adult-only foster home. Consultation with a professional trainer/behaviorist who uses force-free methods is highly recommended.

Potential challenges: : Social hyperarousal,Fearful/potential for defensive aggression,Mouthiness/poor bite inhibition,On-leash reactivity/barrier frustration

Potential challenges comments:: Social hyperarousal, mouthiness: Mazi has been observed to become vocal and mouth handlers when overly excited. See handouts: Arousal, Mouthiness.

Fearful/potential for defensive aggression: Mazi has been fearful at the care center and was observed to lunge and bark at a person. He will need a slow approach and time to acclimate to unfamiliar people and environments. Please see handout on Fear and Defensive Aggression.

SWEET "FLOWER" IS IN URGENT NEED OF A LOVING ADOPTER FAST OR SHE WILL BE SHELTER BOUND....

PLEASE SHARE TO HELP THIS SWEET GIRL.....

Meet Flower....A beautiful and PETITE smooth collie mix girl needs foster or adopter. WE DO NOT WANT HER TO GO BACK TO SHELTER. Flower was rescued from a terrible hoarding situation in 2021 by a wonderful local shelter. Unfortunately, she did not acclimate very well to the shelter environment and she reacted poorly. Her sweet and sensitive personality was definitely not shining forth. Flower was overlooked by adopters for way too long. Finally in a (temporary) foster home, Flower is coming alive. After six weeks in her foster home.... Flower is sweet. and loving. and gentle. and obedient. She is beginning to show some of her silly playfulness. Flower is conquering socialization milestones and bonding completely with her human. She has already proven herself to be a true and wonderful companion. Her joy is to be at your side, wherever you are, whatever you are doing. Yet, she is perfectly content relaxing by herself. She loves her crate, it is her safe spot and she self soothes there if overwhelmed. Flower is totally enjoying the warm sunny days outdoors. Curious and watchful, there is so much to look at and listen to. She enjoys running in the yard and we have recently begun working on her leash walking manners (I often wonder if Flowers stated age of 9 years old is correct, as she is very spry and agile). Flower respectfully asks for attention, and then seems so grateful for the affection shown to her. She is a happy and content girl. Flower is simply a joy and makes me smile all day. And she is just beautiful to look at!!What a great testament to the rebounding soul of a saved dog!! You will love her.Flower is currently thriving in a calm adult only home. Although making great strides, she is still very uncertain in many situations and will need a patient and understanding family while she re-adjusts yet again. Flower is a petite pup, weighing less than 40 pounds. Her photos are size deceiving, they make her appear much larger. She is 9 years young.

**GORGEOUS GRAY PUP FOR ADOPTION**
But only apply if you like an affectionate, wiggly, cuddly pup 😀
I'm Puppy ASHLEY, a three-month-old female elegant-looking Weimaraner mix. with light eyes. At least, that's what we think, and I can't wait until someone adopts me and does a DNA test on me.
I only weigh 14 pounds now and am smaller than my pictures make me look. I'm all legs and floppy ears, wearing a gorgeous silver-grey coat. I love to run and play with other dogs and have playgroups with many puppies. Once tuckered out from playing, I love lying on a couch or curling up on my bed for a good nap, and I especially love to cuddle with you. Get ready for lots of puppy kisses, also
. I'm all puppy, play hard, love hard, nap hard! It's what we puppies do! I will make a great family dog, as I love everyone
. I'm spayed, up to date with appropriate shots, microchipped, and ready to go home.

Please fill out the application at this link.
