Pedestrian Killed in Vehicle Collision on Long Island, Authorities Report
EAST PATCHOGUE, NY — A pedestrian lost their life after being hit by a vehicle in East Patchogue on Friday night, according to Suffolk police.
A 2012 Nissan, operated by a 22-year-old resident of Patchogue, was heading southbound on Route 112, near Sycamore Street, when it struck a pedestrian at approximately 10:45 p.m., according to police reports.
The pedestrian, identified as 30-year-old Deshawn Parrish from Medford, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities stated that the driver of the vehicle was not injured in the incident.
In response to the collision, the vehicle was impounded for a safety inspection. The investigation is being conducted by the 5th Squad in Patchogue, as reported by police.
