Suffolk County police are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing teenager from Moriches who was last seen earlier this week near a Dunkin’ in Mastic.
According to investigators, the teen — whose name is being withheld at the family’s request — was last seen around 7:30 p.m. Monday near the Dunkin’ on Montauk Highway, a busy area frequented by students and commuters.
Family members reported her missing later that evening when she did not return home. Police say she may have been wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, ripped jeans, and white sneakers at the time of her disappearance.
Detectives from the Seventh Precinct and the Missing Persons Section are conducting an extensive search in the Mastic and Moriches areas, canvassing local businesses and reviewing surveillance footage.
“This is an active investigation,” said a Suffolk County Police spokesperson. “We’re following all leads and urging anyone with information to come forward immediately.”
Friends and family have also taken to social media to spread the word, sharing photos and organizing volunteer searches along nearby roads and parks.
“She’s a good kid — quiet, funny, always checking in,” said a family friend. “This isn’t like her at all. We just want her home safe.”
Anyone with information on the teen’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad at (631) 852-8752 or call 911.
This is a developing story. The Long Island Daily News will update this article as new information becomes available.
