Man Fatally Shot By Girlfriend Inside Long Island Home, Then She Called 911: Suffolk Police
A woman fatally shot her boyfriend during a violent domestic dispute inside their Coram home early Friday morning, Suffolk County Police announced on July 4.
Ashley Guimont, 44, shot and killed 47-year-old Alex Carter inside their Townehouse Drive home after a physical altercation broke out around 2:30 a.m., police said.
Moments after the shooting, Guimont called 911, according to police. Carter was transported to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson, where he was pronounced dead.
Guimont was arrested at the scene and charged with second-degree murder by Homicide Squad detectives, police said.
Guimont was held overnight at the Fourth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday, July 5.
