Suffolk PD: Knife-wielding man fatally shot while approaching victim to stab him again
A Suffolk County police officer fatally shot a knife-wielding man in Centereach on Sunday morning as the man allegedly attempted to stab a victim who was already wounded, according to Suffolk County Police Commissioner Kevin Catalina. Responding to a 911 call about a disturbance with a weapon at approximately 8:38 a.m. behind a strip mall at 2505 Middle Country Road, officers found a 44-year-old man suffering from a large knife wound to his neck. While officers were rendering aid to the victim, 29-year-old Emilson Yoan Ordonez-Vanegas emerged from a nearby wooded area. Police stated Ordonez-Vanegas was holding a 10-12 inch knife, yelling, and approaching the victim with the intention to stab him again.
