🚨 Police ID Electric Scooter Driver Hospitalized After Crashing Into 2 Cars In North Bellport
NORTH BELLPORT, NY — A 20-year-old man was seriously injured after crashing his electric scooter into two vehicles in North Bellport Thursday afternoon, Suffolk County police said.
The crash occurred just after 3:14 p.m. at the intersection of Macdonald Avenue and Atlantic Avenue. According to investigators, the scooter rider was traveling southbound on Macdonald Avenue when he struck a westbound 2015 Kia Optima at the intersection. Seconds later, he collided with a 2015 Hyundai Accent that was heading eastbound on Atlantic Avenue.
Emergency responders arrived quickly, and the rider—whose name has not yet been released—was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries. Authorities said he remains hospitalized as of Friday morning.
The drivers of the Kia and the Hyundai—a 63-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man, respectively—were not injured. A passenger in the Hyundai also escaped harm, police said.
All three vehicles, including the scooter, were impounded for safety checks and mechanical inspections as part of the ongoing investigation.
