A father from South Huntington has confessed to raping his biological daughter after administering sleeping pills to her.
On May 31, a resident of South Huntington who is 45 years old and remains unnamed for the victim's protection, admitted to committing first-degree rape in Suffolk County Court.
In February 2022, the defendant acknowledged to the DA's office that his 21-year-old daughter was staying with him and, during that time, he provided her with an Advil PM.
The father was rubbing the woman's back and buttocks when she eventually regained consciousness.
According to prosecutors, the man forcefully pinned her arms down and raped her when she became aware of the situation.
After some time, she managed to flee and made her way to a relative's house that was in close proximity.
The victim informed the police that her father had sexually assaulted her in her early childhood.
In a statement, Suffolk County DA Raymond Tierney expressed that the defendant had not only committed a dreadful crime, but also failed in his responsibility as a father by sexually assaulting his daughter.
With this plea, the defendant is guaranteed to spend a long time behind bars for his deeds, and the victim won't have to go through the ordeal of testifying during a trial.
According to the guidelines for sentencing in the state, the accused has the potential to be incarcerated for a maximum of 25 years. The defendant is scheduled to appear in court for the sentencing portion of the trial on Wednesday, July 19th.
