ST. MARY’S HEALTHCARE SYSTEM FOR CHILDREN MOVES FROM NEW HYDE PARK TO UNIONDALE
The new space will serve as a headquarters for the Healthcare System’s home care programs and community programs, including their cutting-edge remote patient monitoring program
UNIONDALE, NY – St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children is moving their office in New Hyde Park, NY to a new space in Uniondale, NY which will allow the hospital to provide more convenient services to Long Island residents. The new space, located at 333 Earle Ovington Blvd, will include office space for administrative staff and serve as a headquarters for the Healthcare System’s home care programs and community programs, including their cutting-edge remote patient monitoring program which was expanded during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic and has continued as a valuable resource for patients.
The program uses bluetooth enabled devices to monitor blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, weight and medication adherence and triggers alerts when patient responses fall outside physician ordered parameters. The use of remote patient monitoring makes it easier for children to transition home sooner, reducing unnecessary hospitalizations and emergency room visits. The program is also key for healthcare equity because it opens doors for families who would otherwise face socioeconomic barriers to getting their children the treatment they need.
“We’re thrilled to be able to continue to serve critically ill and injured children in Nassau and Suffolk counties through our home care and community programs that work tirelessly to help our patients live longer, more productive and more fulfilling lives than their families ever thought possible,” said Dr. Edwin Simpser, President and CEO of St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children. “St. Mary’s has always had a presence in the Long Island community and we’re excited for this new chapter in Uniondale.”
St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children has been dedicated to providing specialized care to New York’s most vulnerable children for more than 150 years. St. Mary’s provides a continuum of care to children with medically complex conditions through an in-patient hospital facility in Bayside Queens, as well as home care services and community programs.
