Three People Arrested following Street Take Over in Suffolk County Saturday Afternoon

Suffolk County Police arrested three men yesterday afternoon following reports of a large street-take over that began in Hauppauge. After receiving numerous 911 calls reporting a large take-over involving over 200 ATVs, Dirtbikes, and Motorcycles police arrested three men for driving recklessly and performing stunts on Route 347 in Hauppauge. 

Police responded to the area in Hauppauge, after receiving multiple 911 calls of ATVs, Dirtbikes, and Motorcycles, driving recklessly, and performing stunts on Route 347 in Hauppauge at approximately, 4:20 p.m. Police Officers responded, and arrested two people, and impounded several vehicles. 

The group disbanded, and regrouped near Motor Parkway and Expressway Drive South in Brentwood. Highway Patrol Officers, and Third Precinct Officers, observed the group drive through Bay Shore when two ATVs became disabled, and at approximately 6:30 p.m. The operators fled on foot. One was apprehended and found to be in possession of a loaded handgun. 

Ava Mongiello, 23, of Mount Sinai, and Jahkil Arroyo, 29, of Central Islip were charged with Reckless Driving Endangerment 2nd Degree, and Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer. They were issued desk appearance tickets. 

Shamir Solomon, 22, of Roosevelt, was arrested for Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree. He was also charged with Unlawful Speed Contest, and Reckless Driving. He was held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at the First District Court in Central Islip on Jul 26. 

Ten Vehicles were impounded.
