Officials have announced that a man from Long Island has been convicted of killing his uncle by stabbing him in December of 2019.

The Nassau County District Attorney declared that a jury found 44-year-old David Cahoon from Dix Hill guilty of the death of his 70-year-old uncle, William Cahoon, in an event that happened almost four years prior on Thursday, June 8.

On January 4, 2019, William Cahoon's body was discovered in his Levittown residence with roughly 16 stab wounds, as stated by the DA's Office.

During a wellness check on William, officers found his body after staff at the Milleridge Inn restaurant, where he had dined every Friday and Saturday night for 25 years, became worried when he hadn't visited in four weeks.

David Cahoon was found responsible for the murder of his uncle on December 3, 2018 following an investigation.

Investigators reported that he had stolen $1,800 by depositing a check from his uncle's bank account.

In June 2019, Cahoon was taken into police custody and later found guilty of the specified accusations.

  • Second-degree murder
  • Second-degree possession of a forged instrument
  • Fourth-degree grand larceny

The jury took only one day to deliberate and pronounced the verdict as guilty.

On Friday, July 7, Cahoon must appear in court for his sentencing, which could result in a prison term of up to 25 years to life.
