On video, the suspect confesses to shooting and killing a 31-year-old outside a restaurant in Central Islip.

The person responsible for the murder of a man outside a Long Island restaurant has admitted to the crime almost two years later.

On June 5th, 29-year-old Ismael Rodriguez-Rosado of East Islip admitted to second-degree murder and additional charges related to the death of 31-year-old German Ariel Montes De Oca Ramirez in August 2021 during his appearance in Suffolk County Court.

Around 1 a.m. on Aug. 2, 2021, an argument between the pair occurred outside of Mi Nueva Encanto Restaurant on Carleton Avenue in Central Islip, as stated by the Suffolk County DA's office.

After taking out a 9mm pistol, Rodriguez-Rosado proceeded to shoot Ramirez four times before escaping in a Ford Edge SUV.

After being taken to South Shore University Hospital, Ramirez of Bay Shore was declared deceased.

Prosecutors stated that after undercover officers saw Rodriguez-Rosado, he hit their police car at a gas station in Bay Shore near Union Boulevard and Saxon Avenue before fleeing.

According to prosecutors, Rodriguez-Rosado drove in a reckless manner down the middle of Commack Road towards police vehicles coming from the opposite direction, which led to a police chase.

Finally, he was apprehended when the covert police car hit the back wheel of his car, resulting in it spinning and halting.

The weapon used in the homicide was discovered by a K-9 unit the same evening, about a mile from the location of Rodriguez-Rosad's arrest. In addition, surveillance footage from nearby establishments was obtained by investigators, which documented the killing.

Suffolk County DA Raymond Tierney stated that the accused deliberately killed Mr. Montes De Oca Ramirez and attempted to escape without being held accountable.

Due to the exceptional efforts of Suffolk County police officers, this culprit was apprehended promptly following a dangerous, high-speed pursuit.

On Monday in court, Rodriguez-Rosado admitted to committing second-degree murder and possessing two weapons illegally, which are all serious criminal offenses deserving of felony charges.

When he appears at Suffolk County Court on July 10th, Monday, he is anticipated to receive a prison term of 17 years.

Prosecutors state that in 2016 Rodriguez-Rosado was incarcerated for two years due to a conviction of attempted robbery.
