Man Arrested for Seriously Injuring Pedestrian in Motor Vehicle Crash Sunday Morning

A 28-year-old man from Manorville was arrested early Sunday morning after he seriously injured a pedestrian in a Motor Vehicle accident on the Long Island Expressway Sunday morning at approximately 5:50 a.m. 

Pavon-Putt-Bhat was driving a 2025 Nissan Altima eastbound on the HOV lane of the Long Island Expressway at exit 50, when the vehicle struck the median. Bhat exited the vehicle, to look at the damage, and was struck by a 2019 Honda CRV driven by Christian Guevara. 

Bhat, 27, of Center Moriches, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip in serious condition. 

Guevara, and his passenger, John Herado-Conde, were found to be in possession of narcotics. 

Guevara, 28, was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree, Criminal Possession of a Control Substance 3rd Degree, and two counts of Criminal use of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd Degree. 

Hurtado-Cortez, 31, of Flanders, was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, and two Counts of Criminal use of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd Degree. 

Guevera, and Hurtado-Cortez were held overnight at the Third precinct and are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip today, September 14.
