🐾 UPDATE ON THE DIX HILLS CATS — PROGRESS IS BEING MADE! 🐾

Long Island, we wanted to bring everyone an update on the cats in Dix Hills that so many of you have been following.

There is some encouraging news.

North Fork Country Kids Rescue reports that two more cats have been trapped. According to the rescue’s latest update, five adult cats and three kittens have now been trapped as part of the effort.

The rescue says it is working with neighbors to continue trapping and helping the cats.

This is exactly why we asked Long Island to step up.

When this story first gained attention, neighbors estimated that 20 to 30 cats were roaming the Cascade Court area after a homeowner was evicted. Residents had been taking turns feeding the cats and desperately trying to find organizations that could help.

Now, people are showing up.

🐾 Cats are being trapped.
🐾 Neighbors are helping.
🐾 Rescue volunteers are involved.
🐾 The work is continuing.

But this rescue effort is NOT over.

There are still cats that need to be accounted for, and every animal trapped can mean veterinary care, spay/neuter services, vaccinations, food, supplies, transportation and recovery.

Some of these cats may ultimately require TNR, while friendly and socialized cats and kittens may be candidates for foster care and adoption.

If you are an experienced TNR volunteer, foster, veterinarian, rescue organization or someone who can assist with supplies or other resources, please consider getting involved.
