Caregiver Arrested for Allegedly Stealing Jewelry from Residence
Suffolk County Police arrested a Caregiver Friday afternoon for allegedly stealing form a home she's been working in in East Setauket.
Jackqulin Smith was a home health aide employee from Home Watch Caregivers based in Hicksville New York. She was working at a residence in East Setauket for an 80-year-old woman, and her 58-year-old daughter who suffers from degenerative neurological disorder. Smith allegedly stole jewelry valued at approximately $9,850 from late April to May. The family contacted police when they noticed jewelry missing.
Following an investigation by Sixth Squad Detectives, along with the Sixth Precinct Investigative Officers, Smith was arrested at her residence in Medford at approximately 3p.m. Friday afternoon.
Smith, 40, has been charged with Grand Larceny 3rd Degree. She was held overnight Friday at the Fourth Precinct, and was scheduled to be arraigned at the First District Court in Central Islip on June 20.
Detectives are asking with anyone who believes they could have been a victim of Smith to contact the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
