Man Arrested for DWAI After Fatally Hitting Man On Sunrise Highway Friday
Suffolk County Police arrested a 27-year-old Bellport Man for driving while ability impaired by drugs, after he was involved in a motor vehicle accident that killed a pedestrian Friday morning.
Andrew Holmes Garriques was driving a 2008 Mercedes C350, when he struck, 37-Korey Klein who was walking Eastbound on the Sunrise Highway Service road. Klein was pronounced dead at the scene, Garriques, was not injured. and remained at the scene.
Garrques was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, and was held overnight at the Third Precinct. He was scheduled to be arraigned at the First District Court in Central Islip yesterday, Saturday, February 14.
An adult passenger in the Mercedes, was not injured.
