Man Arrested After Burglarizing House after Child Calls Police

Suffolk Police arrested a 53-year-old man for allegedly breaking into a Medford home Tuesday afternoon while a child was inside. 

A 12-year-old was inside his home on Eagle Avenue in Medford Tuesday afternoon when he reported hearing glass breaking and someone moving inside the house around 12:50 p.m. Sixth Precinct officers responded to the house, and within three minutes of the call found Christian Garcia had broken a window and was inside the residence. The child was not injured. 

Garcia, 53, who is homeless, was charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, and Possession of Burglar Tools. He will be held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and will be arraigned at the First District Court in Central Islip on December 24.
