Huntington Motorcyclist Killed In Melville Crash, Police Say

A Huntington man was killed Friday evening after a motorcycle crash in Melville, according to Suffolk County Police.

Police said the crash happened at approximately 6:45 p.m. on Round Swamp Road near Hilltop Drive. Investigators said a 38-year-old man from Huntington was operating a 2023 Ducati motorcycle southbound when the motorcycle collided with a 2022 Kia Seltos traveling in the same direction.

Authorities said the motorcyclist lost control after impact and was thrown from the bike. The motorcycle subsequently caught fire.

The rider was pronounced dead at the scene by a representative from the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office. Police later identified the victim as Anees Khan, 38, of Huntington.

The occupants of the Kia, an 85-year-old man and an 85-year-old woman from Plainview, were not injured in the collision, police said.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety inspections as detectives from the Suffolk County Police Second Squad continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.
