🐾 Dix Hills Cats Need Homes: Meet Koa, Bernie Dexter and Pixie

Three cats connected to the rescue effort in Dix Hills are waiting for something every animal deserves: a safe, loving home and a family of their own.

Koa, Bernie Dexter and Pixie each have a different personality and story, but they share one thing in common — they need people willing to give them a chance.

And Long Island Daily News is asking our community to help us get their faces in front of as many potential adopters as possible.

❤️ Meet Koa 

At only 4 months old, Koa is a male kitten with his whole life ahead of him.

Donna Marie, who has been helping with the cats, describes Koa in three simple words:

“Sweet as pie.”

The tabby-and-white kitten already appears comfortable receiving affection, and now he needs the most important thing of all — someone to make him part of their family.

Koa shouldn’t have to grow up wondering where he belongs.

He deserves toys scattered across a living-room floor, a comfortable bed, someone waiting for him when he wakes up and a family who will love him for the rest of his life.

❤️ Meet Bernie Dexter 

Bernie Dexter is a beautiful 4- to 5-month-old female long-haired tabby.

She’s still a little shy, but she’s making progress.

According to Donna Marie, Bernie Dexter allows people to pet her, and she believes the young cat will continue to come around.

For a frightened or uncertain animal, learning to trust doesn’t always happen overnight.

Sometimes it takes patience.

Sometimes it takes kindness.

And sometimes it takes one special person willing to say, “I’ll give her the time she needs.”

Bernie Dexter deserves that person.

With a quiet, safe environment and a patient adopter willing to let her adjust at her own pace, this beautiful girl could have the opportunity to blossom.

❤️ Meet Pixie 

Meet Pixie

Pixie is a beautiful 1-year-old female who is ready for the chance to find a loving forever home.

At just one year old, Pixie still has so much life ahead of her. She deserves the security of a home, the comfort of a family and the opportunity to know that she is safe and loved.

Somewhere out there is Pixie’s person. We just need to help them find each other.

Not everyone can adopt another animal.

We understand that.

But everyone can help these cats be seen.

One share may seem like a small thing, but that share can travel from one person to another until it reaches the person who says:

Because this isn’t going to end with Koa, Bernie Dexter and Pixie.
