NYPD Officer From Hauppauge Shot On Duty; Manhunt Underway For Suspect

As the search for the person responsible for shooting an NYPD officer on duty continues, the officer from Long Island is in the process of recovering.

According to police reports, Officer Brett Boller, who is 22 years old and from Hauppauge, was shot on Wednesday, April 5 while he was responding to a report of a fight on an MTA bus in the Jamaica neighborhood of Queens.

According to police, two men had a disagreement over a seat on the bus, resulting in the bus driver stopping and alerting the officers. As the officers began to approach, the individual in question made a quick exit through the front doors of the bus.

According to the police, the suspect was finally apprehended by Officer Boller near Jamaica Avenue and 161st Street. During the confrontation, the suspect fired one shot and hit Officer Boller in his right hip.

It is anticipated that Boller will recuperate after undergoing surgery.

According to law enforcement officials, the perpetrator ran into a parking garage close by, discarded a black mask, jacket, and an orange sweatshirt. Video footage from the surveillance cameras indicates that the culprit departed from the garage at a later time.

At the intersection of 161st Street and Hillside Avenue is where he was last observed.

The NYPD announced on April 6th that they were offering a reward of $10,000 for any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect. They also released supplementary photos of the suspect.
